day 48

today was long and hot.

we had like twice as many complaints as we've ever had at a tourney. and today was just pool play! makes me worried for tomorrow....

but otherwise it was a pretty ok day. before all the unnecessary complaining happened, i basically just sat around in hq drinking gatorades. i even called miss gabriel and was able to chat with her for a while while i was "working" haha
i enjoy getting paid to do nothing. =]

later on, however, all of a sudden we had a bunch of parents complaining about teams who were "cheating" by playing in such and such an age group blah blah blah yada yada yada......and it's frustrating because when teams register, we go by the honor system. if they say they have no select players, we're obviously not going to do a background check to make sure they aren't lying. so when teams start losing to teams who are just flat-out better, the losers' parents all of a sudden get in our faces about how unfair it all is.
but the complaints about older kids playing down or younger kids playing up or whatever it may be, are completely avoidable. when teams register, the people in our home office will call all of the teams in an age division and verify that it's ok if a team plays up/down. then when that team starts winning, the parents (who agreed to it in the first place) all of a sudden want to yell at us about it? it got to the point where laura, bryce, and i just started telling parents to deal with it. it's supposed to be a fun tourney, no the freaking junior world cup. if a team loses, the parents should be glad that their kids will improve by playing tough competition. but instead the parents try to live through their kids and they become obsessed with winning. ugh. people can be soo....obnoxious.

this one mom was telling laura and i how this "cheating" team kept winning and how if we don't disqualify that team, we're promoting the art of cheating (or something stupid like that). i just wanted to tell the mom to set a better example for her kids and just have a good attitude whether they win or lose, and teach them that they can't just whine and complain when things don't go their way. oh it was so so so so so annoying. she said the same sentence like over and over and over again and every time she said it i was like "uh yes we've established your opinion on that. let's move on, psycho."
i didn't actually say that, but it definitely crossed my mind a time or two.

as you can see, i feel very strongly about it. haha no i actually am not too torn up about this. i mean, we can't please everyone. besides, there are more important things in life. i just needed to get that out of my system. so now that i just vented to all of the people that read this......

anyway, the rest of the day was pretty good. we tried to enter scores online (bryce and laura tried, i fell asleep) but it wouldn't work, so we went and grabbed dinner at subway (or "subways" as bryce calls it) then came back to the hotel, laura and i watched like a zillion episodes of ncis, then we worked out, and now we're just chillin like villains in our hotel room.

oh, but while we worked out, we were all jumpy and skeptical of anyone that came out into the parking lot. haha i think we were just hung up on the ncis episodes we had just watched. our fight-or-flight responses were still kicked in.
the first guy, though, was a total creep. hahaha and laura and i let him know it! he was tryin to chat with us and when we just completely shot him down, he tried to act halfway normal and ask us if we knew which hotel this was. i was like "uh yeah it's a la quinta, like it says on that sign that's RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU." hah, idiot.

anywhoo, i'm verrrrrr tired, so i'm gonna end here. but i think that's basically everything that happened today..
night!
